Vietnamese authorities have been actively implementing strategies to enhance tourism in the country, and one of their initiatives involves facilitating the process for obtaining a Vietnam eVisa.
During April 2023, the Vietnamese Government formally presented a report to the National Assembly outlining proposed policy changes regarding the entry, exit, and residence regulations for foreign individuals in Vietnam. These proposals primarily aim to extend the validity period of Vietnam eVisas and broaden the list of eligible countries for the Vietnam eVisa program.
1. More Nationalities to Benefit from Vietnam eVisa
The list of nationalities eligible for the Vietnam eVisa is set to expand beyond the current 80 countries. This includes passport holders from Hong Kong and Macau, with the exception of Chinese e-passport holders. The Vietnamese government has approved the expansion and will update both the country list and the entry ports for eVisa applicants. Stay tuned for further updates on this matter.
2. Vietnam eVisa Duration Extended to 90 Days
As per the approval, the validity of the Vietnam eVisa will be extended to 90 days, allowing for single or multiple entries. This is an improvement over the current policy of 30-day validity for single entry only.
During the 90-day period, eVisa holders are permitted to enter and exit Vietnam as many times as they desire, without the need for a new eVisa issuance procedure.
The decision to extend the eVisa duration aims to meet the requirements of international travelers, particularly those who wish to study, conduct market research, and explore investment opportunities. It is especially beneficial for individuals who need to visit various Southeast Asian countries and return to Vietnam to assess and compare potential investment and business prospects.
This change will be applicable for individuals who apply for the Vietnam eVisa on or after August 15, 2023. Those who already have their Vietnam eVisa issued or have submitted their application before this date will not be eligible for this extension.
